Luckey Ranch, a master-planned development on San Antonio’s far West Side, is living up to its name.
Over the past three months, the project has netted 50 new home sales. Another 16 sales were under contract as of Nov. 30, according to officials with The Kalikow Group.
Based in Westbury, N.Y., The Kalikow Group is developing Luckey Ranch via a joint venture known as KEP Luckey Ranch Global Associates.
“San Antonio is the third-fastest growing area by population in the U.S.,” notes Edward Kalikow, president and CEO of The Kalikow Group. “Homes are reasonably priced and job growth is expanding. This all equals increased demand for single-family homes, and we are executing a successful business model in a sound market.”
The Kalikow Group first announced plans for Luckey Ranch back in mid-2009. All told, the project spans 610 acres along Loop 1604 and U.S. Highway 90. Of that, 539 acres have been carved out for residential development — for a total of 2,400 single-family homes. The remaining 71 acres have been zoned for commercial development.
Last year, Houston-based builder LGI Homes, in partnership with real estate investment firm GTIS Partners, purchased 93 acres out of the residential portion of Luckey Ranch. The 50 homes that have been purchased thus far, as well as the 16 homes under contract, are all part of LGI’s portion of Luckey Ranch.
The builder’s homes in the far West Side community range in size from 1,200 to 2,600 square feet, and in price from $129,900 to $172,900.
